Single parents are my homies, my favorite kind of folks. Of course I happen to be one, so the topic is near and dear to my heart (or my “iHeart” if you will
! In determining the best way to share this blog, I asked myself, what do we all have in common besides being single parents?
I came up with two words: Success and Happiness
Success: I do realize that not all single parents are interested in becoming successful in terms of career, but I believe that 99% of you want to be successful in life at whatever it is that you are passionate about, and parenting is probably in there somewhere! This blog will be focused on helping you get there, or simply just bringing you happiness.
Happiness: this one is easy. Obviously this is something we all pursue if we don’t have it already, or if we would like to experience it more often. It’s the best way to be right?
One thing I know for sure is that I am happy. I also believe I have experienced some success in life. What I would like to bring to you through this blog is a little insight. My own unique brand of insight. I know we all have unique insight, we are all amazing creations, not one of us the same. So I look forward to and will be honored by your unique feedback should you choose to grace this blog with them.
So…
On the journey together through this crazy/beautiful thing we call life, I try to make sense of it (often abstractly and clumsily) and accept what I don’t understand with love. I believe in a greater purpose, and have moments of clarity, but I also have a bad memory so these moments can be fleeting. Here is where I try to capture those moments of clarity and random thoughts, and pin them down.
I’m an entrepreneur at heart, I really have accepted this fact. I believe being a mom is my most important role in life, and being a mom brings me the most joy. I admit that I never envisioned being a single mom while I was growing up, but as John Lennon said, “Life is what happens, while your making other plans.”
I was a single mom from day one, at the age of 26 I found out that I was going to be a mom, and going to go it alone. Since then, my life has changed dramatically. Now, I’m almost 30, still on the path, but I have found myself, and have learned to love my life.
Currently I am the co-creator of the best online community for single parents, called iHeartSingleParents.com, with my partner, ModernSingleMomma. We have experienced a lot of success and growth so far, since the start in February 08! Check out our press page here.
In addition to that, we are going to be launching Single Parent, the print magazine for single parents in January 2009! To go along with the launch of this magazine, which we believe will really be a necessity for single parents, is the start of Single Parent Night Out! It will begin in Portland, OR and move to other markets from there!
Thank you for reading!

You are amazing and beautiful… I will be following your blog and I am starting to get the blog itch too!!!
I’m so excited by all the single parent bloggers I’m discovering since I started. Most of my friends are either married parents or single non-parents, so it’s awesome to find a bit of a support group/friend base online when they just don’t understand me. Keep up the beautiful work. I’ll be following.
I am so happy you are blogging– what a dear, dear, genuine and powerful voice you have to bring SUCCESS and HAPPINESS to so many of us!
Thank you, my soul sister =)
